Staff Sgt. Elizabeth Carroll, an Army Reserve intelligence analyst and Iraq veteran, will be competing for the title of Best Warrior of the Army Reserve at Fort McCoy, Wis., 13-17 July.

“The basics of being a Soldier are by far one of the most exciting and challenging aspects of serving.”

Originally from Aurora, Colo., Staff Sgt. Elizabeth Carroll is an intelligence analyst with the 203rd Military Intelligence Battalion located at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Md.

Carroll is not only working on a  double major in sociology and accounting –but between her work and studies devotes time to writing a book  called “Young and Deployed” describing experiences in Iraq.  Carroll recently scored an impressive 319 out of 300 points on the Army Physical Fitness Test.

While deployed to Camp Liberty, Iraq, for 15 months in 2005-6, she was awarded both the Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Action Badge.

Carroll  is one of only 28 Soldiers in the 206,000-strong Army Reserve to be selected for this competition.

“Being in the Army Reserve and competing in Best Warrior have made me realize the importance of training hard –and the strength and courage it takes to keep both me and my Soldiers going.”

Carroll hopes to one day become the first female Sergeant Major of the Army.

HOOAH Staff Sgt. Carroll and the Army Reserve’s Best Warriors!

Ha thats sound interesting. What has been your reaction and view when working with soldier who have joined the service to give back to America when they were born in different counrty ?.

Which part sounds interesting? lol And honestly, I have worked with Soldiers who were not American Citizens, but were amazing non-the-less. Soldiers’ backgrounds before entering into the military help to shape who they are bringing different aspects of life to the table. Everyone is able to learn a lot about life through others. And just a side note…I was born in a different country as well. 🙂

So SSGT Carroll do you see yourself someday attaining a commission or do you plan to stay an NCO, both require tremendous leadership and strength so I applaud either decision just curious as to the path you feel you will choose for such a successful soldier thus far in your career. I’m keeping high expectations for you and high hopes you will continue to excell and succeed in yor competition as well as your career and book aspirations. Don’t stop short of a dream and don’t stop dreaming when you get to a finish line. Good Luck Lizard.
