Staff Sergeant Aaron Butler
“My personal motto is ‘Always remember that better men have done more and asked for less.’”

Staff Sgt. Aaron D. Butler entered the Best Warrior Competition for the opportunity to “bring out the best in myself as a person,” he said. He certainly did, winning the Army Reserve Best NCO Warrior title earlier this summer.

Butler, a medical logistics sergeant with the 4225th U.S. Army Hospital in Ft. Harrison, Mont., is one of only 28 Soldiers in the 206,000-strong Army Reserve selected to compete for this honor.

Only 21 years old, Butler deployed to Qatar, Iraq, Afghanistan and Djibouti in 2006-7.  There he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal by Maj. Gen. Thomas Robison, commander of the 377th Theater Support Command, for his support of the 20th Special Forces Group in the Horn of Africa.  His outstanding work ensured that combat units remained stocked with vital medical supplies.

In his civilian occupation, Butler is a rancher on KG Ranch in Three Forks, Mont.
